I have bought a complete ignition shielding set from ZIP. From the AIM I can see that the 4 shieldings are mounted with brackets at the exhaust manifold.
I have several types of different brackets which I do not know exactly where they are installed.
Could someone post me some pics so I can see how the shields should be installed with the brackets.
Thanks
Mark, I also have examined a plastic bag full of all kinds of angle brackets and wing nuts without instructions, and wondered how I would ever get it right.
I have not had to do it yet, but I was going to get the AIM (for 70, U69, Sheet A5), and compare the shapes of the brackets with the diagrams and the hardware until I figured out what looked most reasonable. I am hoping it will be self-evident when I get into the process. Kind of like a jig-saw puzzle.
The one aspect of the shielding that is NOT well known is a small spring clip that attaches under an oil pan cap screw on each side; this clip holds the two forward sparkplug wires in a "V" shape under the boomerang shaped shields on the side of the engine block. I am not sure about the finish of the clip, but I THINK it is natural steel, not orange, since the shielding was installed at the assembly plant

You mean like this one Chuck? :D :D :jester BTW, mine's orange. I'm quite certain the lower side of my block hasn't been monkey'd with.
The mental picture I have of the clip is that it was smaller, just enough room for two wire diameters side-by-side and very close to the oil pan lip. I don't know how many versions of those clips there were over the years; maybe I'm thinking of an earler version. But, there yours is, biggern' life, and that IS what I should be trying to find. Thanks for the picture.
Whaddaya' mean "not monkeyed with"? Looks like to me some monkey has replaced that drain plug; it looks new and zinc plated. :D :D

Uh Chuck, the freeze plug? 'Taint plated. Just the flash reflection or something. See my CTG grease pencil marking? There's one on the other side too.
It is not as difficult as it looks at first sight, some of the brackets are slanted, so you have to rotate them to face the threads and wing nuts. Front left has a hole for temp sender, at least in my 70, but 69's don't have TCS switch at rear right as 70's do.
