Don't know about the vacuum switches, but the (Eastwood) paint process that claims to look like plating with a dichromate wash looks just like what it is - PAINT.
I had a feeling the paint was exactly... well paint.
The repros are similar to the originals but there are obvious differences.
Even the NOS pieces seem to be different than the units provided from the factory. The latter GM pieces are silver cad versus zinc dichromate.
I am torn between the repros and trying to paint mine.
I was hoping someone out there might have come up with a way to repair and/or disassemble them for proper restoration. It might even entail destroying one to restore another.
