Default Rear Window Storage Tray Question?

Recently replaced the lever that allows the rear window storage tray to drop down on my 69. I also ordered a latch kit fron Zip that has some small rubber
pieces, but I don't think that it is the correct part. The tray rattles when driving. What is the correct type of cusion that I should get? Anyone have
photos? My storage tray has three small holes about one inch behind the front metal bar. Do the cusions go there?

OK, Pat, NOW I see what you are talking about.

My 70 storage tray also has the three holes you are asking about, but nothing is in the holes, and it appears nothing was EVER in the holes. Maybe some others can chime in with some observations.

Check your AIM around UPC 1 Sheet F17; your storage tray may be close to this area. The 70 sheet is a new drawing issued about the third week in April, 1969, so yours has to be a different sheet. On my drawing, it shows three bumpers in those holes, the end bumpers are part number 3827411, and the center bumper is part number 3972536. These are probably similar to the rubber pull-through bumpers found on the rear storage compartment doors, and that may explain how they can disappear without a trace. It seems clear that these bumpers were to keep the glass from rattling on the storage tray. I wonder if NCRS judges look for these when judging the interior?

There are also three cubes of black foam rubber that attach to the deck above the tray to keep it from rattling. The center cube is slightly taller than the two on the ends. They are attached to the underside of the deck with pressure sensitive adhesive.

Pat,

I installed the 3 foam pads (from Dr. Rebuild) on the frame above the tray. That quieted my rattling down. I don't have any bumpers on the tray itself.

Yeah, it's the L-88 hood. Its gonna be replaced soon with an original BB hood. I've got the tripower setup on the workbench ready to send out for rebuilding. When it returns, I'll be looking for a good painter to match the hood to the exisiting paint.
