Jer —

I went over there -- I had it bookmarked from the first. I see that there is a membership dues requirement. Dues, I can handle; the charter membership thing, tho, was a bit too steep for a retiree. Howsomeever, nowhere do I find the amount of the dues. How in tarnation can one make a decision on joining if he can't find out the price tag?

I enjoyed the discussion on the responsibility of the reader in any communication. Well, isn't there some responsibility on the writer in communicating? Like telling you the cost of membership.

HELLS-FIRE & DAMNATION !! :mad

I, for one, don't want to buy a pig in a poke.

Well, Jer, I didn't know you even had any aspirations to be a Master Judge.  :D!

Besides, I didn't know the Prez had anything to do with it; I thought you just had to attend 30-40 judging schools and you were one.

(Aren't all these little smiley icons cool?

Geez, you can read the posts without joining, but to post you'll have to be a paying customer.

Click on "VH Forum", and you can get a flavor by reading the posts...you'll recognize the names, and you'll see one or two that will surprise you. I think I have already discerned the identity of "Anonymous 1"; and No, George, it is NOT Joe Lucia. Very interesting! :D :D :D

i look at the vetteheads board like i looked at the ncrs board you should not have to pay anything if you only answer questions not ask them. :chevy

Well, Motor, the ideal situation is not having to fork over dinero for either asking or answering questions, but you need advertisers to carry the freight in that case.

Some of the best deals on the internet are paid for by advertisers...I like'em; in my opinion it's a great deal for everybody. The sponsored organizations just have to make sure FROM THE BEGINNING that advertisers know what they are getting for their money, i.e. keep them at arm's length.

Default CHUCK

"Well, Jer, I didn't know you even had any aspirations to be a Master Judge"
Is there some logic here I missed, it happens, I don't always understand the ulterior motivations offered up for public consumption.
RE Advertising,
is great unfortunately this puts everyone in the position to dance to their music as evidenced by the NCRSs "arrangement" with GM...Don’t step on their toes by badmouthing their product, (Aztek), or they will take their ball and go home.
Vetteheads sought to avoid this situation.

Clem,

I could be wrong, but I think it's gonna be in the $15-$20 per year range (heck, less than a good bottle of Merlot :D ). Come on down!

Ulterior Motivations???....Moi??? Now what "ulterior motives" could I possibly have with my ole friend Jer???

Actually, Jer, it was a clear reference to a conversation on the Vetteheads:

Jer (paraphrased): We could set up a table right next to the NCRS tent.

Mystery Voice (paraphrased): You do, and I'll see that you NEVER make Master Judge.

Try that gingkoba stuff, Jer, it's supposed to work wonders of ole geezer brains. :D :D :D

Now about advertising: It has already been demonstrated by many internet entities, including CF, that you can accept the benefits of advertising without becoming the advertisers' HO'.

Nah,

That was just for us "initial" crazy idiots that believed Ken (i.e. one time thing to get the site up and running). The rest is now basically "maintenance" costs, so yearly dues are cheap. Hopefully the ashore will have all this on the site soon. Hard to attract folks if ya don't know what the pig is gonna cost :D

We'll just need to give Ken a little more time, hell, he's probaly only working 18-20 hrs a day on this. He's got room to "improve". :troll

Default CLEM

The "buy in" was the money raised by several members to fund the venture. WE have 15 founders that provided the money necessary to start the site. The "Founders" will never pay any annual membership fees.
The annual membership fee is to insure that Vetteheads will remain independent of advertising. Like Don, I believe the annual membership is $18. Vetteheads would be proud to have you as a member. We also understand your position regarding hard earned knowledge. Vetteheads will be copy protected to visitors but not members ,(as I understand it), and, of course, you have the option of not contributing information to any board. I would be saddened by that decision as I have benefited from your expertise on many occasions.

Sounds like a good deal to me I want to join :D :D Will there be a place at Carlisle to pay, or one of the founders there to take some cash? I don't like the paypay stuff.
