I was just on Romeo Engineering's site checking out carpet for my '69 Corvette and noticed that they state their company was mainly a wholesale supplier of Corvette interior parts. If that's true does anyone know which suppliers carry Romeo Engineering interior parts; particularly the carpet sets?
I tried to call Romeo yesterday so I could order a catalog but, I got an answering machine. I think I'd prefer to deal with a company that I can speak to someone to place my orders or ask questions; the whole answering machine thing kind of turned me off.
I tried to call one more time after the previous post and spoke to the owner, I guess. I placed the order for the carpet set, interior screw set and carpet glue.
Seemed like a nice guy; I hope the order doesn't take too long to arrive.

Dave,
I wasn't kidding with my response on the NCRS board.
The usual waiting time from Romeo is about a year - assuming you call several times begging and pleading.

After hearing about the year long wait that had been reported I contacted Romeo Eng. last Thursday. I was told that my order will be ready to ship early this week. (crossing my fingers).
Had I known that the carpet wasn't as correct as portrayed I might have just gotten the carpet from Al Knoch along with my seat covers. Oh well, live and learn.
1996Z15,
Did you get your order yet from Romeo Engineering.
You haven't posted an update and just wondered if the stuff arrived as promised.

Still no carpet; I spoke to the guy last Friday and he told me that he expected it would ship that day. Keep in mind that I had already been told that it had shipped twice and that it was expected to ship on a certain day at least two other times. I have been calling every so often to see what the status is and, when I was told it had shipped, I would call back and ask for a tracking number.
Finally last Friday I said to the guy that I have been waiting for two months now for carpet; what's the deal? I was told that they had to remake one of the rear side pieces because it had a wrinkle in it and that they don't get many calls for saddle carpet. If I'll just be patient for a little longer he said he'd throw in a set of floor mats. (I think I've been more than patient so far)
I am going to call him again later this week if I don't get the carpet by Wednesday and demand my money back so I can order it from Knoch.
BTW: I went to the Better Business Bureau's site to see if there were any complaints filed against them and there were two. One for poor delivery times (or something like that) and another for failure to respond to a credit request (I think I might be screwed).
Anyway, I hope to have it this week so I can start the install process. (I'm a bit nervous about that project too as I am not thrilled at the thought of removing my console)
I'll keep you all posted when I finally receive the carpet. This crap had better drop right in after all this time waiting.

Their carpet is great. Have it in my 69. That being said, be prepared to wait, and wait, and wait some more. Chuck
I received a message on my home answering machine yesterday from Don at Romeo. He said that the carpet is shipping today (7/28) and he gave me a tracking number. He said the order will be able to be tracked via that number after 6:00 pm today.
After all this time that carpet had better just fall into place and fit like a glove.

Didn't you already get a tracking number 3 or 4 days ago? How can there be two different tracking numbers for the same shipment? Is this guy playing games with you?
Stay on top of this as this vendor does not have the best reputation regarding timely shipments from what I have read on this and other Corvette sites.

He gave me one tracking number that turned out to be bogus; this was after he had told me the order had shipped on, at least, two other occassions.
This time I have been watching the package via the UPS tracking number and it looks as if I am really going to get my carpet this time; and to think it only took a little under 3 months and numerous calls to the vendor...............and you guys said it would take a year
In all honesty; I don't care how nice this carpet turns out to be I will never recommend this vendor to anyone. They outright lied to me on numerous occassions by telling me the order had shipped and even provided a bogus tracking number. How they stay in business is beyond me. From now on I will deal strictly with Al Knoch for my interior needs; I ordered my seat covers and foam from them and had the items within a week or so. I even received an email from "Ironcross" at Al Knoch offering to help me out with interior needs; I guess he had read some of this post regarding Romeo Engineering.
I'll let everyone know how well the carpet fits; I am a bit nervous since I've never installed carpet before and I want it to look perfect. Oh well, I guess the only thing I can do is be patient and take my time.
I am so friggin' pissed off I am beside myself! So Romeo provides a tracking number that appears to be a correct number. I am tracking the delivery and expecting to receive the package some time today. A few minutes ago I track it and it shows that the package was delivered at 1:35 this afternoon. I go to the back of the warehouse to look for my carpet and it's not there............
I ask my shipping guys to look into this for me and I am told that the package was left at the back door of a location in Lawnside, NJ. That's nice except I don't live in Lawnside and I don't work in Lawnside. Now some other person has my stuff and I am screwed.
I called Romeo Eng. and got the answering machine; I left a message telling them of the screw up and told them that I want my carpet and I want it now. If I don't get some satisfaction I will be contacting a lawyer and also report them to the BBB.
Unfortunately, I paid with a cashier's check so I can't even cancel the payment. AAARRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!
It appears he just gave you any old tracking number to get you off the phone. I doubt he will admit to that even if by some chance he does return your call. Time might be of the essence here and you may want to get a lawyer who is licensed to practice in his geographical area.
Don't let to much time go by before you follow up on this. Now you can see why so many of us have negative opinion of this vendor. You are not the first to have problems and likely won't be the last. Move quickly.
