The DOT code on each tire is:
DOT MKNA F20R 239
I guess 239 could mean 23rd week of 1999, 89, or even.... 79?
23rd week of 99 is around June 10. I bought the car in August 99, but I think I can rule out 1999 because inside one of the tires is written, "CARP" !!
When did you get the car from G Carpenter? These same tires must have come with the car then, right?
I emailed Goodyear and got this disappointing response:
Mark,
Thank you for contacting our web site. To determine the decade the tires
were manufactured in count the total number of characters in the DOT
number. If there are 11 total characters this would mean 2000 production,
10 = 1990's, 9 = 1980's, 8 = 1970's.
I replied that my DOT code has 11 characters and I am quite sure the tires were not produced in 2000, so I got this equally disappointing reply:
I apologize, it was 12,11,10, making them the 23rd week of 1999 based on 11
characters.
So, what do you think? 1989 or 79 ? MJ
I have a little piece of alleged tank sticker that indicates F70 15 white stripe as original equipment. I put new BFG T/A 225/70 HR blackwalls on. MJ
