Default Question for 96 CE experts

I have a 96 collectors edition with chrome 5 spoke wheels. Do you know if they were offered as a dealer exchange for the painted wheels, and do think that shoud count as a point deduction at a show (street stock)

Your wheels are aftermarket. Stock CE wheels were silver painted.

I think he knows they are aftermarket; I think he's wondering if the chrome wheels were ever offered as a dealer exchange or not.

Might be wrong on this, but I'm thinking there were no optional wheels for C4s unless an options package was ordered where different wheels were included as part of the package. If an options package was ordered, stock wheels could be painted different colors. As an example, CEs had silver wheels, Grand Sports black, etc. Everything else rode on the stock rims, including the ZR1s (although wider). I don't recall that there was a factory chromed wheel.

After the 96 models came out, I recall aftermarket advertisements seeking CE/GS wheels which the provider would chrome for you on an exchange basis. It's possible a previous owner had the stock CE wheels chrome plated.

The dealer could have offered it, but it's not a GM accessory, it would have been something that the dealer was doing.

having said that, the answer to you question would be yes, depending on the type of show, you could get a point reduction for non original wheels.
