Was doing some resto work on the bezel that houses the middle A/C vents and the wiper switch on my 73. The black paint had the usual scratches and little lacquer thinner revealed beautiful chrome under the black paint,..so I removed all the paint.
Question,..did GM paint over the chrome or did Bubba? Would the chrome look better or would it look better painted black? I can't decide, but leaning towards leaving it chrome.
Thanks,
Wes

I'm a little confused. The bezel is semi-gloss black from the factory. The vents themselves can be black with chrome edges or all black depending upon the year.

The 73' is exactly the same as in Mikes pic
If the vents are black it's been painted.
EDIT* if the OUTSIDE (not the fins) are not chrome looking ....as mine are plastic, then it has been painted
I have a couple stock vents and a couple painted ones.... you can usually tell if its been painted
Am I making sense? Because I lost myself about 5 edits ago....
