Default 70 Ignition Shielding

Does anyone know when GM switched to the one piece top? My 70 350/350 was built the first week in June.

What is the correct shielding configuration?

Thanks,

Bill

Lot of NCRS discussion on this. Have a 12961 70 L-46, (3rd week in june), with the box and open air cleaner. Thats the way it was in 1973 when I bought it.

Mine is serial number 11327. I know my air cleaner is the original and it is open style with all the silk screening on the under side.

Guy before me put headers on the car and threw away the original shielding.

Seems like I am right in between.

Any more thoughts?

I sure wish NCRS would get the 70-72 JM completed. They have been on back order for over a year.

What is correct according to the latest NCRS info?

Keep the info coming.

I checked out your pictures.

That is one clean sweet ride!

I can only dream of an engine compartment that clean.

Bill,

You need the closed(box) style ignition shield style.
