Can anybody help me here? I need recommendations on tires, both size and brand, I prefer RWL. I also don't want a tire that will look too thick for the wheel wells. A tire dealer is recommending 235-60-15 Dunlop Qualifier GT's. He said being that winter is coming up fast and figures he'll set on them till spring he'll sell me 4 for $160.00 plus tax.
CORRECT SIZE IS F70 15 OR 215 15 IJUST BROUGHT 225 70 15 FROM 70 WOULD NOT FIT BECAUSE WHEN
TURNING IT CAUHGT LOWER REAR PART OF FRONT WHEEL WELL TRY BE FOR BUYING HOPES IT HELPS
I run 235-70R-15s or 225-70R-15s on 8" rally wheels with no problems of any type. A 60 series tire will affect your speedo reading and you may have to change the speedo tranny gear.
My two cents is stick with a 70 series tire. I have seen too many vettes at too many shows.... 60 series tires on a C-3 looks like you are trying to low-ride it and keep up with, well....you know what I am trying to say. A 70 series looks alot more classy and fills the well nicely. I have 235/70/15 on my 68 and they look nice and handle well, they don't ride like a truck like a 60 series will impose on an already stiff suspension.
The original F70-15s were speced at 775 revs per mile, so the equivalent modern radial is a 215/70R-15, most of which are also speced right at 775 revs per mile. The Pirelli P4000 Super Touring carries a "Z" speed rating. A 225/70R-15 speced at 760 revs per mile should also fit the car on the OEM wheels. Both these sizes are supplied in the vintage Michelin XWX available exclusively from Coker tire. They are probably the best performance tire in these sizes, but expensive.
