Default A Frame Bushings Revisited. Problems

Posted about removing a portion of the collar of the reproduction upper A Frame bushing to make them look like the originals. Refer to the picture. On the far left is an original. In the center is the repro, and on the right is the modified repro. Here's the problem. When you measure the original, it's 7/8 inch from the "stop" to the end of the collar. The rubber protrudes 1/4 inch. When you remove enough metal from the repro...back to the point where it is also 7/8 inch....only about 1/16 inch of rubber protrudes. Would need to take about another 3/16 of metal off the collar to make the rubber protrude 1/4 inch. Don't know if structurally this is acceptable. Thoughts? Chuck
