Based on this website (http://www.carburetion.com/quadnumber.htm) I am guessing that the date code for this carb (see pic of an ebay carb below) is the 283rd day of 1976?
The Quadrajet carb on my 69 L-46 is 7029207 2115. So, was it manufactured on the 211th day of 1975? Meaning it was purchased over the counter after its production date of 1975 and put on my car?
OK, I have a 1972 with a 454 and manual trans. My Quadrajet is a 7042217 which is all ok so far. Under this number there is no date code as per the carb website. Mine says:
How about this 7028209 FG carb for a '68 390 hp 427 manual? Look a little funny? The seller claims he had to wait for Paragon to get it for him, so he is sure it is real, but it looks like a restamp to me. Compare to the second picture from the NCRS TDB that the guy posting it claims is real.
I think I read somewhere that the "1" in front of the regular number indicates a Q-jet made by Carter under license to Rochester.
Don't quote me on that.
Carter manufactured Rochester carbs used an alphanumeric date code system (i.e. D2 for April, 1972). Rochester manufactured Rochester carbs used the julian date code system (i.e. 2112 for 211th day of 1972).

M1 o FF
What does the second part mean?
You have a Quadrajet made by Carter. On about 1969 and later they used "M1" as month/year date code in your case December 1971.
