80 Elegante' version?

80 Elegante' version?
Went to a local cruise-in and saw a black 1980 coupe that had a stainless steel 'Targa band' with a
chrome emblem on both sides with Elegante' in script applied to the rear roofline and silver grey
decals that were applied to the 'sword shaped' rise on the hood and also on the sides of the car
starting at the side vents and tapering off just in front of the rear wheels. The rear bubble window
also served as a hatch which I didn't think came until 81 or 82. Anyone know if this was a factory
option or was it a dealer special? The owners said they'd been to Corvette Museum and they were
of no help in determining if it was a factory option or not. Anyone else seen one of these?

Definitely NOT a factory option - another aftermarket kit. Probably also had gold-plated wire wheels too :) . Hope it didn't also "hop-and-jump" :( .

The wheels were the stock aluminum 1 piece. Yea, not my taste at all but they're in our local C3 club so I told them I'd post here to see if anyone had info on it. Thanks for the response! :cheers:

I think the rear window opened hatchback-style in 79 or 80 didn't it? The rest of the crap, oops - options, must have been owner installed.
