Has any one seen a block casted dated and put in a car at the end of the same month. Was this possible? I know NCRS says 1 to 3 months before. I have seen cars way out of that 6 -8 months that were original. Could one have been done within a month.
I am not sure if this addresses your question, but I have seen original 427 cars that were cast within 30 days of the car's build date. I have seen original cars that were as much as 5 months prior to a cars build date as well.

Yes, very common to have that time span within a month. The foundry (where the block was cast) and the engine plant (where they were machined and assembled) were on the same piece of property at Tonawanda, so the cast-to-engine assembly time span could be very short. Finished engines were shipped to St. Louis by rail, which took 2-4 days dock-to-dock.
There were many variations depending on inventory levels and production schedules, but it was "possible" to get an engine to St. Louis within a week after the block was cast, although 2-4 weeks was more "typical". NCRS gives full credit up to six months.
