Torn Leather
Had been working on exterior stuff on car, put screwdriver in the old back pocket trick and forgot it was there... Sat down and heard a strange noise from my seat (not gas!) my screwdriver put a 4" slash in bottom leather panel. Took car to 2 upholstery shops and neither one can locate my Ruby Red non perforated leather. Anybody have any sources for this color of leather? :cry :cry :cry
Now let me tell you what stupid thing i did....
Detailing all day a couple of months ago and sure enough, the battery was dead. Threw a charger on it over night by setting it on top of the engine and letting the hood down softly. Next morning {in my socks and sucking coffee}i picked up the hood and then thought to unplug the charger. I turned to the wall outlet and let go of the hood and... and...^#%$$# I thought the hood was up all the way! *&^%%$%^##%. The hood chashed down on the charger! At first i thought the only thing bad was a crushed charger and scratches on the inside of my hood. But when i pulled the car out of the garage. Gulp! Two little spider cracks in the Ruby paint.
There... I said it. This is the first time i could get myself to talk. I was so mad at myself.... Was? I'd like to kick myself still.

If it were me, I would start at the source, or at least one of them: I would make a trivial investment in a telephone call down to Al Knoch, and ask to talk to someone about late model seat covers or seat cover installation. They will have the girl up front screening the calls, but try to talk to someone in charge like their production manager or maybe inside sales.
Once you get them on the telephone, explain the situation telling them that your 93 Anniversary Edition seat covers are like new, but you had a mishap and can't find the right leather anywhere; You want to know if they will sell the leather, repair the cover, or take your seat cushion and replace the cover. Tell them you want to keep your car as original as possible, and would prefer to have the original cover repaired if possible. They may do one or any of the three, either working with your local upholstery guy or doing it themselves. You won't know until you ask.
Will this work? Heck, I don't know...But, I ain't hearing no better ideas here. Can I guarantee that Al Knoch's leather will match the original seats? Nope, you are on your own on this. But, if they make late model covers, then their stuff is going to come a lot closer than generic stuff available from upholstery supply. Will it be cheap? Not likely, but you will save a lot of money over a complete set of new covers. Having to pay for these "accidents" does amazing things to sharpen the memory; unlikey you'll ever do it again...I never have. :D
Best of luck in your endeavor. I know that you are mentally bitchin' yourself out every time you lay eyes on that gash. :)
Change them and sell the old sell the useable use
parts on Ebay. It is the only way it will look right.
And you'll be surprised what the old stuff will get at auction.
