One of the hot button issues here in Canajun land is the price of gasoline. The boys over there in OPEC land get their pennies first (of course) but, in some cases, the price of gas gets taxed at municipal, provincial and federal levels which tends to make the cost for a fill-up resemble a small business loan for market expansion. :cry
Since we have Forum types all over North America (and even further away) I'm curious about the cost of gas where you're at! Since we operate under the Metric system up here, our prices would appear rather cheap (currently 55.3 Canajun pennies per litre) until you figure out there's 3.785 litres per US gallon and 163 Canajun pennies per US dollar.
To make it simple, I did the math for the Canajuns to convert directly from Funny Money price per litres into US dollars per gallon so we're not comparing apples to maple trees, so to speak. I won't mention the fact that Canajuns, when they do talk about gallons, usually refer to old British measures; the Imperial Gallon which is 4.545 litres or 1.201 US gallons 'cause that would just confuse things even more.
Canajuns, if you multiply your price in Canajun pennies per litre by0.02404, it's a direct conversion to $US per US gallons, based upon today's dollar conversion rate. Crack out your calculators! If you engineers want to use a slide rule, go for it!
You foreign types in Europe, Guam and other exotic locations are on your own as far as conversions to USD and USG. My head hurts from doing the Canajun math.
So, send in your rough location and the last price per gallon you paid for regular gas! If you care to admit how much you paid for premium, go for it.
I just paid 55.3 cents per litre which works out to $1.33 per gallon.
WOW! 72vetteman, that's amazing! For us Canajun Forum types, that's 31.9 cents per litre. When I lived in Victoria, we normally paid more than we do here in Vancouver area. I suspect poor old RonD is paying about 79.9 cents per litre or US $1.92 per gallon. :boxing
Oh well, at least we have cheap health care. :nopity
Here is SW Florida regular gas is between .97 cents and .99 cents, of course all my cars drink premium which is going for $1.23 a gallon. I have heard that Georgia has the cheapest price for gas.
Cheapest I've seen around Baltimore, Maryland is 94.9 for regular. Just about all the stations where I live are 98.9 to 99.9/gallon. I live in Harford County...about 25 miles north of Baltimore. Funny...just took a drive to Montgomery County...outside of "The District" (Washington, DC for you "out of towners") and regular gas down there was in the $1.20's/gallon for regular. Chuck
Any where from $.94 to $1.15 for regular unleaded around the Canton, Cleveland, Akron, Ohio area. Now that Russia is "in the game", now being the second largest crude oil producer, OPEC has some competition!!! Mexico and Venezuala(sp?) are in there now too!!! Another event, 9/11 has the airlines now using 20% less fuel(20% less flights). Fuel is now probably being "overproduced" causing the "lower prices".
Really nice prices on your side of the sea. Here in Germany a US-Gallon has a price of $3.34
You see, driving a Vette in Germany isn't really cheap. :D
