Well it's cold as all hell down here in south La, around 55 degrees  Thats cold for us coon-*sses. I was looking around on the forum and decided to get myself a sig, so Im posting this to see if the info is there! Thad :p:
You need to post a pic of the beast in your sig :yesnod: ...beautiful car guys. It IS cold down here..what is up with that? Nicole and I had to turn on the heater last night!! and cover plants the night before that!!??
On another note, I got a question for ya. Mark at Delkin came and looked at my frame and suggested I replace it. Finance-wise it would be cheaper. He said he could fix it (replace the rear crossmember) and weld a new one into place but it would run over the grand mark, and he said I could pick up a clean frame for around $800 or maybe less?
What's your thought...the rear crossmember is rusted pretty good...although the kickups and everything else is clean. Any thoughts?
Jason, I saw the pics of your frame, and if were me, I would look for a used rust free frame. Now it could be fixed but a jig would need to be built to keep the parts all lined up while you cut and splice in new parts. Just too much crap I think. What does a used 68 conv frame go for? Thad
I haven't looked enough so far...Mark said they usually cost him around $800. I don't know which route I will go yet. I'd kind of like to keep the original, but that's not a necessity. Have you ever had to swap frames?
The down part is I would have to set the body...see where my body joints are, and then pull it again to shim. :smash:
If I were in youur shoes! I would get a frame, either from Mark or someone else and let Mark paint it and get it ready for your sus parts to be installed. I would rather put the body on and off and shim instead of cleaning and painting an old used frame! No I have never changed a frame. You have to make the call, everyone is gunna have a different opinion  If you got a frame already refinished, I would think that the lifting and shimming could be done in a couple of hours? Thad
I hope its not a problem jumping into this thread,as it seems to be a bayou-fest,but if this fella can get you a straight rust-free 68 frame for $800 you better jump on it imediatly!Your bent frame is worth $800...........Bill S
