Welcome to the world of a lump hiding under a tarp. Poor little thing has been rescued by me last week. It just goes to show you that they are still out there and you just need to keep your eyes pealed. This one had the usual tan car cover over it. No matter, I can see through them from a mile away :D http://photos.onebigvillage.com/pubb...72+convertable
Ron, you have got your work cut out for you. Let's see, it's a AC convertible which will help you, but it's the base L48. Looks like you are going to be shopping for a few correctly dated engine components if you plan to restore that one. :D
It needs the clips replaced in the diff + a reseal, have to take it apart to see anything further. Did a comp test on the engine and it came back as 90-120 lbs. I am going to pull the heads and see whats going on in there. Started it up and no smoke (it hadn't been started in a while) so that may be a good sign. The engine wiring is really interesing. I'm having a sale on speaker wire this week only :D Mickey Mouse has been there and made a bit of a mess of that. No biggy, new ones aren't to bad in the $$ department. The best part about it was the #'s block was not in the car but managed to find it with very little grief. Pulled the front bumper off today and was doing a bit of glass work on the drivers side. Two bolts was all it took to pull the darn thing. The car is basically all there. I just need to look at the all there and fix most it. Maintenace was not on the last owners list of required things to to :( . Oh well, it will be back in shape in no time.
I will keep my eyes open for you but they is tuff to find in any shape round here. I have been shaking every tree I can find looking for a 59-60 to fall out with very little luck...any one sorta local...project would be prefered but other may be considered. You wanted a convert right????
Tom.
If you go into my photo things (link below) look in the 73 or 72 corvette folder. You will probley see what you need in those folders. I will snap a pic any way for you. Get in there early, my bandwidth gets eaten up quick with this lot looking in :D
Green, hmm? As in green with envy? You really liked driving the ol' Nuclear Banana, didn't you, Ron? So much so, you decided you hadda have another C3. Atta boy!
Oh yeah, I thought I saw an evaporator housing under the right fender, but it's...something.
What's your plans here, Ronster? The pewter with black is a real nice combination; maybe this car's best feature. Are you going to rebuild the original block and make it numbers-matching again? Or, will you paint it orange and call it restored? On the surface, it looks like you'll be needing an intake, carburetor, distributor, exhaust manifolds, water pump, probably an alternator, not to mention the fan shroud. Whoa Momma.
I had no idea you were such an optimist. :D

Chuck, I am going to pull that motor and freshin it up in the head department and then see from there. I am not going to rebuild the original but it will stay with the car. I would actually prefer it this way, anyway. If anything happend to the original then values in the car will go down. That way the #'s motor can be ready to go but on the side lines. It came with the heads and intakes as well. Not sure about painting it yet. I am goint to clean the entire car up and see what we have from there. Well its off to play with it some more
Congratulations!! Cruise and enjoy. You make a good point about car covers. You sure can tell when a Corvette is under one. Spot 'em a mile away! It has to be a Corvette Thing. :smash:
:)
Nuclear Banana, Patrick, with a nod of the hat to drag racer Eddy Hill.
The delays now are not Ron's fault. It doesn't mean I don't blame him for everything :D The N. B. is at a small paint shop owned by a friend. There were some delays as a result of a death in the family and then his painter quit, but things are supposed to be on track now. If not, well, I'm gonna blame Ron again. :D
Ron wouldn't want to me to restore his Envy Green Vette. There would be no question of ablilty or quality; I do good work but I'm meticulous. Besides, I know Ron's labour rates and I doubt Ron could afford to hire me!
Oh the shop is a little cluttered up at the moment but I am thinking of standing them up on end. I figure I can can at least another half dozen in there with no real problems :D I actullay like it full, then I know I'm busy and it gives customers something to look at and mentally tease themselves into having me do there work for them (sound familiar Mac  ). The big thing is I am enjoying what I'm doing and learning more and more every day. Just when you think you have them figured out they teach you something else. Even the same model years have so many differances between them. With out the web a person would really be left high and dry as manuals etc just dont cut it. Keep sharing the pictures and info boys. It all helps.
Speaking of new toys, as of 2 PM this afternoon, I am the proud owner of a digital camera, a Kodak DX3215 Zoom. Now I just need to figure out how to make it work. Hmmmm. What about this button here....:smash:
