Well, today was my lucky day. Went to a friends Corvette shop, right "downtown" in the small town where I work. Have been so busy lately during the day, that I haven't stopped in to see him for a few months. Asked about the vacuum "T". He looked through his pile of "junk" and guess what....an intact "T". Price was right. Picked it up. I might try to make a few of these, experimenting with different size "T"'s Chuck
Never thought of trying that, Juliet. I'm no engineer or plastic expert, but I know that the generic term "plastic" encompasses many chemical products, ABS, PVC, etc. Dental "plastic" is methyl methacrylate. The various glues for these various products sort of "melt" the products together. So far, my superglue is holding, but I'm going to install my new "treasure" this weekend along with my new "used" original idler arm. :) How goes the rear spring project? Chuck
Slow. I got bogged down with work / school research with a NASA deadline this past week. Now I'm in catchup mode. :) I hope to start making progress on the beast again now though. The nerve of work to get in the way of my corvette hobby. I haven't really had a chance to go see what folks have 'out back' yet. Thanks. :) ~Juliet
I believe your referring to the tee that supplies vacuum to the heater/ air control on the console. The Dr. sells a tee(2771222-$3.00) for this application on p55 of his catalog. I looks different than my 70 in that the small nipple is not on the base of the tee.
On my 70 the 2 fatter hoses are bent slightly to make the connection, so his tee would work fine. Just not like the original. I have a shopping list to fill at the Dr.'s where I head up that way to start a project.(week or so). I think I'll add one of the tees to it. Let you know if it works
You're correct. That "T" is the take-off for the heater/defroster system. The currently available "T" to which you refer is available from Dr. Rebuild and others. I've seen these "T"s in AutoZone, Salvo, PEP Boys, etc. too. The original style "T" is no longer available, and I got this info from "the source", Dr. R himself. The current "T", with the 90 degree offset was used in later sharks. My problem is that I have the original vacuum hoses. They are fairly "tight", and I don't have enough wiggle room to route the current hose 90 degrees to make the connection.
Now, here's a question??? The one in the picture is off white, while the one in my car is black. Did they use both? Who knows. Chuck
