OK, I figured out how to set up a website and downloaded pics to it....I even posted them over on the 'Test' forum....but the problem is they're huge!!
When Photopoint used to host them they came out the right size. Do I downsize them on CF website and how? or do it on my PC? and how...
I fell off the turnip truck, but it wasn't yesterday...so I know a little. :seeya
Re: Need help on posting pics..... (Patrick Tighe)
I take mine at "normal" resolution (640x480) to begin with, and seldom have to re-size them. If I'm using scans or someone else's image that's larger, I use another program to re-size them so the horizontal size is 500-600 pixels; that way, when they're posted, people don't have to scroll back and forth to see them. Oversize images also affect the whole thread, so you have to scroll to read text as well, which is a PITA.
I agree- it's not nice having to scroll from side to side to read. My digital camera doesn't give me the option of resolution sizes, or at least, not as far as I've discovered and the instructions are worse than useless, but I have Photoshop so it's a snap (no pun intended) to resize pics.
I use the paint program that comes with windows to shrink those large digital photos. Just open your image in ms paint and click on the image menu then the stretch/skew option. I usually drop the horizontal and vertical values from 100% to 50% to start with; this will shrink it to 50% of its original size. As long as you keep the horizontal and vertical values the same the picture will display correctly. Just save em from there and then upload.
