Just won an EBAY auction, and am out the door soon to a Super Bowl party. Being from Baltimore, of course I'm disappointed that the Ravens didn't make it, but at least they made the playoff's. Anyhow, is it just me, or doesn't anybody seem to have much interest in this year's game? Seems like a real mismatch, with the Rams favored by 14 points. I know very little about either team, but, at least the food should be good. :) Chuck
Chuck, Us Boston guys have had a long wait. I seems any football fan needs to think you saw the best Stupor Bowl ever. So much for the gamblers creating a 14 point spread, as we Bostonoians now have a pocket full of cash along w/ the Bookies. We may be witnessing the start of something here in Beantown. What does the rest of the country think about the game?

Dave, you sound like you're thinkin' DYNASTY here!! If it weren't for the Pats DEFENSE, they wouldn't have no 'FENSE at all. I think you've been listening to too many ignorant jocks talk on nationally televised pep rallies. :D :D :D
The TRUTH!!! "Even a blind crow finds an acorn every now and then." :jester :jester
Hi Dave. To be totally honest, I think it was one of the best football games I've ever watched. And....I honestly admit that I was very pleased that the Patriots won. I always root for the "underdog". I really couldn't understand the 14 point "spread" given by most, if not all of the "pundits". Congrats to you "Beantowners" :). Now, If you could only overcome the "Curse of the Bambino" and win the World Series....... :) Chuck
I too somewhat rooted for the Patsys because they are from the AFC, as are my Raiders...... I don't want to go there :mad
The bookies already gave up on the Pats next year also, were given the worst chance of any Champion to repeat at 15 to 1 same as a couple of non-playoff teams this year.
Chuck S, You gotta be kidding me!!!! If I listened to everyone including the jocks and network guys they wouldn't have even played this game. It seems that the special teams played pretty good and the offense did what they had to do. Charlie Weiss just signed for another 2 years. I think the Bambino took sick the other day and with any luck it will die in the next month. Just got my bill for my Red Sox season tickets and I'm just getting up off the floor. Most expensive in Baseball. Oh well, lets get the Corvettes ready for another season.
Dave, don't get me wrong, it was one of the best superbowls in memory, and I was pulling for the Pats. But, to paraphrase Churchill, "Never have so few done so much with so little". It was a superior job of coaching.
Their prospects for a "dynasty" are about as far away as the nearest galaxy, but then that's what everybody said about their chances of winning SB 36; let's see what happens next year.
The jocks I was talking about was the Pats after the game. It's easy to talk with bravado after the game has been won. Of course, it doesn't go down as well to say, "Yeah, we played inspired defense, but our offense struggled for most of the game. The momentum was turning, and we were lucky to have won in regulation time."
We're all buzzing about how stupid John Madden was w/ his comments about "taking a knee". If the Pats don't win in regulation and the Rams win the coin toss at the beginning of overtime its all over. Not suggesting a dynasty here as those are as rare as a 67 L-88, but we have the makings of a solid team for a while. The Pats thing was nice but we really need the Red Sox to win it all, and that seems near impossible. We do have new owners thus new hope. Whats going to happen w/ Enron field?
I have heard the question being asked, but I haven't heard the answer yet. Do you suppose Enron has paid their share yet? If they have already paid their share, I doubt that anything will happen to it; it will remain as a mounument to foolishness. :D You know what they say..."The king is dead; long live the king". If Enron owes, some other corporation will step up, and pay to get their name on the stadium.
Frankly, I'm agin companies "owning" public gathering places and events, but I'm even more agin this corporate socialism that permits sports teams to demand new first class facilities, enriching the owners and benefiting the well-off few, while other priorities go to heck. (Gee, listen to me...Next thing you know I'll be in favor of unlimited, uncontrolled immigration.)
