Hey Ron!
You might be too young, but there was a song back in the 70s that went something like..."It's hard to be with the one you're with, when the right one comes along". No doubt, the song struck a chord with those in unhappy marrigages. Of course, the song was about people and not cars, but the application principle would be the same, only Tom would be pretending to be "in love" with a decoy. :D
Speaking of "decoys", we were having reeely bad tornadoes down in Houston in the mid-eighties. Those suckers (no pun intended) were literally tearing Harris county apart. Well, someone wryly observed that the tornadoes seemed to be un-naturally attracted to trailer houses. Those tornadoes would make beelines right for the trailer parks...it seemed as if some evil, demonic power just enjoyed seeing those stick and aluminum death traps explode from the negative pressure around them. This individual suggested that to protect the public, they should buy some "decoy" trailer houses to scatter around the city, but I don't think it was ever acted on. :D :D
What do a tornado and a redneck divorce have in common? Someone's gonna lose a trailer!!
Tom, you're gonna haveta bite the bullet and grab something 1/2 or 3/4 done with good documentation. Besides, most guys are asking as much for a project car as they are for a 1/2 done car anyway. Every 67 I've seen lately is outrageously priced, justified or not.
Chuck, Have I said how much I love my '69 and how I will never get rid of it.
UmmmmNawwww...Ain't gonna work, Tom. A "decoy car" has to be as close as you can get to something that you could fall in love with, but in fact, something you'd never want to get married to if you know what I mean. Same year, big block, bolt-ons, options out the kazoo...rougher than a cob...you know what I mean. ;)
If you make less than a genuine effort at this ploy, it will never work. It has to look like you are really committed to this relationship. I admit it is a little risky walking this close to the edge...you could wake up married to something you never intended to marry. :D :D :D
