The non-power steering relay rod (centerlink) has a relay rod stud or ball in the end with a gasket seal and clamp around it. Is the rod ball replaceable w/o replacing the whole relay rod?
And if so, how is it removed from the end? There was a cotter pin holding the assembly in, I removed it....now what? Is it pressed in?

Haven't had one apart for awhile, but as I remember, the ball to the pittman arm is held between two semilunar metal pieces. The outer end has a large spring. There is also a felt or rubber seal. There is a slotted "screw in" plug on the end which compresses the spring, and that slotted "screw in" plug has a cotter pin placed through the slot to prevent it from backing out. There is also a rubber boot and a retainer that the pittman arm stud goes through. Hope this helps. Did you check the AIM or the Service Manual? Chuck

Chuck is right... take out the long cotter pin and unscrew the threaded plug, the spring and biradial spherical steel holder. Pull the ball stud forward into the circular hole in the rod, and pull it out. It should be full a grease. :D
Thanks Chuck and PT. That's what I needed. I had already seperated the pitman arm from the link...I knew I wasn't supposed to be banging away with the BFH on that threaded plug. :D I hit it a couple of times last night and it didn't budge :eek: , that's when I said, time to go make a post. :D
