Major progress this past weekend....essentially completed assembly of the engine compartment...other than engine, of course. Installed new glass both in front and back.
Moved the body off the dolly and on to more secure jackstands so that we can address the underside of the body. While cleaning, we noticed several markings in the rear part of the body, including date stamps and the body job number(no pics). Check it out. :)
Allen, your car is really beginning to look nice. Everything on that car, underbody fiberglass, heater box, etc. looks like it's brand new, which is the objective of restoration in the first place.
By the way, that's a good shot of your "professional restorer" using an engine hoist to do the body lift. I suppose he finds that the most convenient way to do it? :D :D
Exactly how did he get you that nice grey underbelly? I am sure that it started out greasy and chipped like everyone else. How did he get it so smooth?
Actually, when I purchased the car, we noticed that it was particularly clean underneath. Perhpaps part of the reason is that it has less than 40k original miles on it?
dat was de plan...Took yesterday off work and wifey and I drove down to Montreal for a scheduled Quebec Chapter meeting for the Regional we're hosting this summer. Arrived at the restaurant at 5:45 for a 6:00 meeting, and was told (by the manager, after consulting with his staff that there was no meeting that night!). Tried phoning some of the other members to find out what was up, but no-one was home, so we left and headed back to Ottawa. Sent Mikey and e-mail expressing a little con-ster-nation, and got a reply that the meeting was 6:30 not 6:00; but he had no excuse for why the restaurant management didn't know they were hosting a meeting that night. Not a big deal... and the next meeting's in April at the Regional Site (Manoir St Sauveur), a little closer to Ottawa. Might even be 'Vette weather by then!
Heater box is not a repro....its the original; perhaps its the photo.
macnav, I attended a meeting this past Sunday to discuss upcoming plans for the regional meet up by you guys. I am trying to figure out how to get my car up there! I understand the place is really nice.
