Default Alternator #s

I have an alternator for a 69 L88 #1100882 61A. My question is I cannot figure out the date code. It reads 8 M 17. Does anyone know what those # represent? Thanks in advance.

Default Re: Alternator #s (SBR)

M=December, since they didn't use the "I". (A=January, B=Febuary, etc) So it's the assembly date, December 17, 1968
