Need help with reverse VIN search!
Do any of you have any hot tips on how I can get the VIN on a car I drove back in 1955?
I have the name of the owner, the license plate number and a description of the car, but no VIN.
Any help welcome!

Normally, if you have the current plate information, you can access the full registration through the Department of Motor Vehicles of the state which issued the plates. There's usually an application process and (of course) a fee. Vehicle registrations are a matter of public records. If the plate is no longer current, you can usually still access the information but if the plate is from 1955, the information may not have been archived. Only one way to find out- apply and ask!

You have the Current Owner's name??? If so, it would be easier to get in touch with him than to track down the actual VIN. Then you can just ask him. If I misunderstood your note, sorry.
