Can anyone tell me what is the best primer to use on suspension and driveline parts when painting? Most of these parts will be glass beaded first. Also in high-heat app's when using a high-temp paint?
Thanks in advance...-Rod :chevy
For suspension and driveline parts, or any metal body/chassis parts, a lot of restorers prefer PPG's DP-90 black epoxy primer. If you apply it to white-metal, bead blasted parts...Es muy bueno!.
DP-90 sticks to bare steel so well, that it is recommended for rust prevention of metal body panels by priming with it BEFORE application of body filler. If you apply more than one coat of DP-90, the second coat should be applied within 24 hours after the first coat. If done in this manner, the second coat chemically bonds to the first coat, rather than just the usual mechanical bond.
For high temperature parts, it all depends on what the meaning of "high temperature" is...for engine parts, I think I would see if VHT made a primer.
