From what I understand there is considerable restoration (if you pardon the term) that is required at the old site. Also, I am told that it will be in St Charles for a 'few years.'
I heard the city government at Bloomington would not come up with a financial incentive for having Gold stay in the same old place. Hence the move out of Bloomington. Anyone know the real reason for the move?
:)
According to a friend at Illinois State U the land fronting the fairgrounds has been sold to Wallmart. They have all intentions of building on this site and construction will begin before the event was to take place. The city refused to build a suitable temporary entrance to allow the movement of car haulers and the like soooo Phesant Gold
My understanding is that they wanted a "park like" setting for display and judging. The facility at Bloomington was just an old dusty dirty and sometimes muddy events center. By June all the grass was gone. I think they wanting to try to get the event on a par with the Pebble Beach Concours show and others like that. You know, those that are held in parks/golf courses and everyone comes wearing top hat and tails :D :D

Hey, wait a minute...I've seen this movie before...The good guys say "Adios"and move to another town with better facilities, the Bloomington city fathers cry out in anguish, wring their hands over all the lost revenue to the city and beg the good guys to come back, the good guys come back then ask for improvements in the facilities, the city fathers say "Post You", then the good guys say "Adios"... Kind of has the same plot as "Groundhog Day", doncha think? :D :D

Phesant Run is nicer than the old fairgrounds but hardly a park.
Drivers on North Ave will have a ball targeting Corvette types in polo shirts, it is a national past time in Chicago, and Crossing North Ave will be necessary.
