Default Update on RonD

For those of you who have been wondering what happened to the third leg of the FCR Canajun Connection, RonD has been putting in 16-20 hour days, trying to clean up the backlog at his shop.

The focus of most of his efforts is the 1967 s/b Coupe which was dropped into his lap literally in pieces in boxes with an order to restore and reassemble. The ultimate jigsaw puzzle!

I don't think ol' Ron is getting much sleep as he's got a deadline for the 67. He replied to my e-mail last night after midnite and said he'd just got home from the shop.

The picture here is from last week. The rolling chassis for the 67 is on the lift, to the left. The 67 body is behind my Ol' Yeller and Ron's green vert. I'm sure Ron is taking lots of pictures of the 67 as he slams it back together, so if anyone has a specific picture request, let me know and I'll relay.

Yep, I can't wait to get back in the saddle.

I've got some paint left over and I'm trying to decide whether I should shoot the rally wheels body colour or go buy some argent silver. They're currently primer black.

I know body colour isn't correct but I've seen other cars painted to match and it looked excellent. I haven't seen a set of yellow rallys before and I'm not sure it would show the chrome rings to their full advantage. If I had a better handle on PhotoShop, I'd try to tint a rally wheel and see how it looked but I'm not so great with computer skills.

Interesting thoughts, Patrick.

As a certified genius, I know my limitations, so I too will shop the painting out. I don't mind scraping my knuckles (wifey says they drag on the ground anyway :D ), don't mind grease under the fingernails (makes me look like a "real" man :D ), but the thoughts of learning to paint a car on my '67?

So, I'm just beginning the mental search for answers on paint. I'm still many months away, but I'll remember your thoughts.

Operating your own business has to be one of the most difficult propositions. If you don't work hard enough, you don't succeed. If you work too hard, you take a strong toll on your personal life.

You're right, Patrick, no-one can do their best work after working all day.

I've always farmed out my paint work. It comes down to a cost/benefit analysis. I know what I want in a paint job- and I can't afford me.
