Got a strange problem that I am not sure how to remedy: Just reinstalled the system, and bled it according to the documented GM sequence.
It seems that there is air in the system even after 2 attempts. Not only that but the wheel violently jerks to the left when the engine is started, then it jerks violently back and forth until the engine is shut down.
Thanks, but moving the adjusting nut didn't seem to make any difference. The odd thing is that nothing was changed from when it worked last year. The only difference is that the pump is a rebuilt.
Also, once when we started it, it didn't move; however, when it was touched it took off......could it be a bad valve?
I don't have any experience trouble-shooting Corvette power steering systems, Allen, but it sounds like you still have air trapped in the system. It sounds like the hydraulic hammer effect you have with air mixed in fluids.
The pump is a simple vane pump; highly unlikely in my mind that these symptoms could result from the rebuilt pump. The first thing I would so is double check the hose routing. Trace them out carefully and make sure they are connected to the right holes...the way they are near the control valve, it might be easy to get them backwards.
Smoothly? Well, this should make you feel better, Patrick......We are on our 4th set of calipers, because all the previous set's bleeders leaked! Yes, 4th set...from at least 2 different suppliers.
