I have a couple or original parts for a 1965 vette.
A fuel filler door in excellent condition with part number stamped on piece.
Is this item more or of the same value as a new reproduction piece.
The other is a tail pipe trim bezel for 63 thru67. Also in almost new condition and never mounted to a vehicle.
I have had these since that period of time and am wanting to sell but not sure of their value relative to repro pieces that I have seen. Any thoughts?
Thanks
Jim
It really depends on a number of factors, but the 2 biggest are the condition of the parts and the buyer.
Usually, good used parts will sell for about half to three quarters of the cost of new repros. New Old Stock parts (old GM parts that are new, in never used condition and preferably in the original packaging), can sell for 2 or 3 times the cost of a repro, and sometimes even more for some parts.
Do you know what year the exhaust bezel is, as there are 3 different designs; 63, 64-65 & 66-67. Exhaust bezels come in lefts and rights, which means if you only have a single, you'll need to find a buyer that only needs that side, or is willing to take a chance on finding a good matching mate to the one you have. This can hurt the value a little.
Pictures would help in determining the years and value, of what you have.
Thanks for the reply.
I would show you pics however Im not sure where to attach them here.
I believe that the bezel is 63 passenger side but not sure how to verify and I don't see a part number.
I also have a set of used 63 tail lamps that came from my original vehicle. As well as the original air filter element 'frame'.
Thanks for the info. Now I am confused as this one has the weld seam as you described along the deeper part of the bezel which I would consider the top. The two screw holes are opposite that weld which I would believe to be the bottom and the shallow part of the bezel. Also there is a third screw hole just to the right of the weld seam looking into the bezel from what would be the rear of the vehicle.
Was there a mid year change to accomodate all three years 63 64 65?
Thanks
Here is a picture of an original 63 exhaust bezel. Unfortunately, I don't have any 64-65 bezels right now, or I would have posted a picture for comparison.
