Default Which Black?

I just recently joined NCRS and have decided to do a correct restoration on my 71 so I want to get the sheen right.
I want to paint under the hood and some of the brackets with semi-flat black. I don't want to use something out of a can and want a 2 part paint that will be more durable. should I look for something like they used to put on the hood of cars? Don't know what to ask for at the paint store.
Thanks

There are two different glosses of black involved under the hood. The metal brackets were dip-primed and are semi-gloss black, and the blackout paint on the inner fenders, firewall, and underside of the hood was a flattened cheap lacquer that's semi-flat. The counterman at the paint store should be able to recommend sprayable products to achieve those appearances.
