Default Are spindles all the same?

Was degreasing my spindles - getting them ready for the bead balster. I noticed (barely) that one spindle has an orange stripe and one has a white stripe. Other than that the spindles (left and right) appear identical. Does it matter which side they go back on or can you exchange left for right?

It does not matter. They are the same. However if they were already set up for bearing clearance it is better that you keep everything separated because it will simplify the set up. I dont know that I would bead blast them though, at least not on the area of the spindle that the bearings go on.

Thanks, i thought they looked to be the same. I just wonder what the paint marks mean...

As far as the bead basting, I will tape up all the shiny parts.

Does anyone know if there are any visual differenced between BB and SB rear spindles? I believe that the BB ones were shot peened or something to increase the strength. If so, how did they identify them from SB ones on the assembly line.

I believe it was the spindle flanges that were peened. Not the spindles themselves.
