Engine help
I was told it came out of a 1966 corvette. I just want to seeif these numbers are for the 66 vette and if there is interest in it here before it goes into something it shouldn't..LOL
Thank You Very much for any help
Sheri.
Pad# F09I4HF should be 1 but is a "I" have pictures to post too.
Block # 3858174 date code H25
Exhaust# 3747042
Head 3795896
Intake #3886677 this # has me baffled?
The engine code of F09I4HF decodes as Flint engine plant (F), September 14th (0914), and 66 Full Size 327/275 auto, A.I.R. (HF).
"HF" could also be a 65 Corvette 327/300 with a manual trans, but the 3858174 block was only used in 66. If it was a 65 Corvette engine, the block casting number would be 3782870, or in some rare occasions, 3858180. The casting date is either September (H) 2nd 1965 (25), or you may have missed a digit and it's September 25th, 65, which would be "H0255".
The 3747042 exhaust manifold was used on various Chevrolets, between 58 and 67. It would only be used on the right side of a Corvette engine. The left would have been a different number.
The 3795896 heads, were used for many different low horse 283's and 327's applications, between 63 & 67.
That intake number is one I've never seen before. It's not in any of the guides or parts books that I have, as near as I can tell.

Thanks, The good pictures on on the Chevelleforum.org under Restoration By the #'s and it is a H25 so 1965 block, I think this was a replacement motor because there is no Vin# on it and the Manifold is a ???? Google only shows NHRA but I like a good mystery..
Today I am going to look for a MFG. on the manifold. Thanks Sheri
