I would like to know if an automatic transmission can be put in a 61' Corvette.? Weak knee, having difficulty with the clutch.

Yes, a Powerglide Automatic Transmission was optional for 1961.

61 corvettes came with a cast iron air cooled powerglide, but it would be better/easier IMO if you just find a long shaft aluminum powerglide with mounting holes cast into the tailhousing. Or you could fabricate a bracket to hold the shifter to the tailshaft also.

All 53s, 54s, and most of the 55s were automatics. The standard transmission came out late in 55.
