Default Electrical question(s)

Hi everyone,

Long time no see.

It lives, and I have some leftover wires.

The car starts and runs like a beast. I have a Transistor Ignition system.

On the basic engine harness there is a double wire, one yellow, one white that goes to the positive coil terminal. According to the TI diagram the white wire from the TI harness goes to the positive terminal. That is how I have it set up. What do I do with the yellow/white double wire? Is it superfluous? Does it get added to the positive terminal as well on top of the white wire from the TI harness?

There is a red wire coming out of the TI harness near the distributor with a clip on the end. The only place it seems to go is into a black wire with a clip that goes into the firewall just to the side of the gold cannister on the passenger side. Is that where it goes?

There is a red wire that comes out of the forward lamp harness before the wires come out for the horn relay. The wire is HOT even when the key is out of the ignition. I can not figure out from any of the diagrams where this wire goes. Help please?

Finally, the wiper motor seems to be getting very hot even when the key is off. (I have disconnected the battery right now) Is this normal? There doesn't seem to be too many different ways to connect the harness to that item. Am I missing something, is this a fire waiting to happen?

I have tried to follow the diagrams and assembly manual but there is no substitute for the CorvetteForum.com. It's good to be back.

Thanks in advance.

Bad-L88 -
I just went out and looked at my car. Not sure if this is much help, but this is what I found.

My coil only has the black and white wires coming from the TI harness connected to the neg and pos terminals respectively. I don't even see the white/yellow double wire on my car, so my guess is that yours is a leftover from the stock harness.

My TI harnes only has 5 wires coming out of it near the distributor. The black and white wires going to the coil, another white wire that disappears into the firewall, and a pink wire and grey wire that both go into a connector. The other end of the connector is a white wire and a white/green wire that go up into the bottom of the distributor. I don't see the red wire you ask about coming out of the harness with a connector on it.

Regarding the red wire near the horn relay, my harness has several wires coming out of it near the horn relay - orange, black, pink, red - they are all connected to the relay in some fashion.

As for your wiper motor, I don't have that problem, so I'm not sure I can be much help. Mine definitely does not get hot with the key off, though.

Don't know how much this helped. If there is something else you would like me to look at, let me know.

Thank you Jonstr and 67 Heaven, this will be very helpful.

So often electrical questions seem to be the third rail of the forum.
