When I pulled my body, either my PB cable wasn't routed properly or I am missing pieces...
After the cable leaves the outboard mounting bracket on the trailing arm, where does the cable route lead to, to get to the equalizer bracket? The AIM is vague at best and shows the cable passing thru the frame  ...
Also, is there a bracket that bolts to the back side of the third crossmember to hold a part of the cable?? If there is, I am missing pieces....
Re: Need parking brake cable routing help........ (topless68)
Lets see if I can explain this. The cable that goes to each wheel hub just goes forward under the frame. It goes through a little half circle slip bracket that is just fitted on the cable in the center. The front cable comes back and has an adjustment bolt made onto the end, that goes through this bracket and two nuts on it for adjustment. This bolt, its not really a bolt but Its threaded like one, has a hole through the end that the spring goes into and the spring goes back into the frame X member. This tightenss up the hole assembly. Does that make any sense?

topless
On my 68 the brackets on the third member are welded to the frame and the cable is held on with a mickey mouse clip at the spiral jacket. My drivers side bracket is broken off. I bought a replacement bracket that is bolted on instead of welded.

There is a front cable from the park brake handle which has the equalizer bracket with the adjustment threads. There is a rear cable that makes a big "V" with the point of the "V" at the equalizer bracket and one end of the rear cable going to each wheel.
The ends of the rear cable pass through the frame crossmember where the kickups start. On each end of the cross member back side is an angled bracket that anchors the front end of the armored section to the frame with a "mickey mouse ears" clip. A second clip anchors the armored section at the trailing arm bracket.
Interesting comments on the welded brackets. The crossmember brackets on later cars are screwed on. Is there any evidence of previous welded brackets? Has your frame been replaced with a later model frame?

Chuck,
The brackets on my early build date 68 were welded. I cut the broken driverside bracket off and then used a grinder to get the rest of the weld off. I than installed a bolt on. I believe the welded brackets to be original.
Re: Need parking brake cable routing help........ (68rdstr)
Thanks guys, I just figured it out...If ya'll will remember, I had to replace the third crossmember with a new (non-rusted) piece and obviously the new piece does not have these brackets. Looks like I need to backtrack and do some cutting and welding.

There is a lot about 68-69 cars I don't know. I was just using this opportunity to add to my knowledge. I had never run across this fact before. I wonder if the screwed on brackets began in 69 or 70? :D

Chuck,
I'm not sure when the change was made but one of the well known vendor catalogs list the bolt on brackets for 69-79 . They also list the weld-on brackets that look like the ones on my 68 as 66-67. I can't find any reference to them in the 68-69 JM. I guess it's one of those 68 things.
