Rear Storage Compartment?

Rear Storage Compartment?
What is the correct procedure for securing the rear storage compartment door trim. I'm replacing the carpet and can't seem to figure this one out. Were the originals heat staked, attached by screws, bonded or what? The car is a 1977 L-48 late series.

On the earlier cars, the compartment lids were made of a particle board type material, and the plastic carpet bezels were retained by tiny chrome-plated flat head counter sink screws.
That probably changed if the compartment doors on the later cars are made of plastic. We'll need someone with 77 experience to help us out here.

rear compartment lids are molded black fiberblass clued to top of lid is proper carpet then surrounding the carpet is a plastic frame that is heat sealed to

Dont waste your time.I did a 77 smoke interior last year just like yours.I fought with rings and bezels for two weeks ,off and on.I ended up buying a complete ,assembled unit.It fit like a glove! :yesnod:
