This is no joke, but I think those tires in the Corvette Museum that say C-O-R-V-E-T-T-E in white letters are neat. If anyone remembers the placard near the tires, the owner or person who owns or loaned them to the museum came from Akron,Ohio. I looked at a '68 Corvette in the late 70's, maybe early '80's that had those same tires on it(in Akron). Supposedly, very, very few sets of these "CORVETTE" tires were ever made. May have been made by the Seiberling Rubber Co. in Akron decades ago.

"Yep jer, every Oldsmobile my father ever bought had whitewalls.   "

you can't imaging the mental exercises I went through overcoming this very memory, I just couldn't see red stripes on a car with B&W interior and B&W exterior, thought it would look like a circus wagon :jester

Re: Cheesy Corvette White Letter Tires (3X2-427)
Tire Trivia - Back in the 60's, U.S. Royal tires (which were made in Detroit, while all the other tire manufacturers were in Akron, Ohio) had a pretty bad reputation for tread separation, blowouts, etc., and many new car customers refused delivery of new cars that arrived wearing U.S. Royals. Chevrolet recognized this, and instructed the dealers to write "No U.S. Royals" in the "Special Instructions" section of the car order form. In the plants, when the build sheet/broadcast copy printed out on the line for one of those cars, the blank area below all the boxes had "Akron Tires Only" printed there in capital letters (couldn't say "No U.S. Royals" for legal reasons)

MORE Cheese. Saw a pretty beat up "late" shark yesterday with a relatively new "spiffy" set of "GRAND AM RADIAL GT" tires. HUGE white letters. Chuck

And even MORE cheese, although this time thankfully NOT on a Corvette. A "hopped up" mini-pickup pulled up next to me at a redlight today. The truck was sporting a relatively new set of "JETZON REVENGER GT's" Nice............I think :) Chuck
