Default A rust question

Hey guys I've been out for a while, I have a question, what are the causes for rust on the body mounting bolts
behind kick panels. Please somebody tell me something before I loose it completely. Thanks

Julio,

MAY be rust through of upper windshield header. Water accumulates in windshield header top - eventually rusting through upper header and onto lower part of windshield header. Once into lower part of support, water is then free to run to run down windshield side channels & hinge pillar - eventually gathering on #2 body mount causing rusted mounting bolts, birdcage, and frame.

Remove upper inside plastic facia windshield trim and examine lower windshield header for rust. If rusted through, that may be source of rust issues on #2 mount. Header (and birdcage) repair not for faint-of-heart, but replacement stampings are available as-well-as donor cars.

Also, possible rust through of birdcage below windshield corners allowing water access to #2 mount.

Generally, birdcage are expensive repairs so weigh your options carefully.
