53 vette

Im considering a 53 vette,it has a excellent frame the interior is all together,the dash has the paint pealing on the top.The car was pinted aprox. 10 years ago but all the chrome wasnt put back on.THe engine and trans are org.but it is not currently running. The guy wants 55ooo for it .He saysit was appraised for 77000. HOW MUCH IS THE CAR REALLY WORTH? :chevy

Since there were only 300 of the 53s made, this is not a case where I simply solicit a value off the internet. If it were me, I would hire myself an appraiser that KNOWS 53-55 Corvettes before I took a strangers word and paid $55K for a car that is supposed to be an original 53. He will be able to tell you if it is what it's supposed to be, and give you an estimated value.

Contact the NCRS headquarters in Cincinnati (513-385-8526); they can probably supply the name of the 53-55 Judging Team Leader, or the name of a Master Level Judge with knowledge of 53-55 Corvettes. The NCRS website (www.NCRS.org) may also have internet contact information.
