The later ones have an extra piece welded on and painted charcoal to match the black in the grilles.

Welcome to the forum! The year split is 69/70.And I think it also has to do with the actual grooves in the trim. :seeya

68 and 69 are the same. I believe 70-72 are the same. 70-72 have an extra "wing" or piece which blends into the 70-72 grills and their surrounds. That extra piece is painted over the chrome to match the grills/surrounds. Don't have a pic. Chuck

Thanks for info chuck. I have pics posted on my ebay auction. If you would could you take a look and give me an idea what year I am selling?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1876170467
I have had a few people email me for correct year and I do know what year they are. I was going to install them on a '71 LS5 I was purchasing but that ended in court. I won the case but lost the car. :(
Again thanks for everyones help.

Ralph

I'm having trouble orienting myself on those pictures. They look like 70-72's from the bottom picture. They have the extra "wing" or extension which blends into the grill. Those parts of the bumperettes should be painted a gray/silver color.

The signature pic was taken in 2001? at the NCRS National in Collinsville/St. Louis MO. We drove out on the road tour. Dana Forrester designed/painted the backdrop for all to use. Chuck

Thanks chuck for all your help. I am going to relist the auction with 70 - 72 in the title.
That is a beautiful car you have. I almost had a 71 Ls5 convert w/ hardtop. Car is fully loaded and sitting (rotting) in a warehouse. I had to take the owner to court to get my deposit back after he changed his mind on selling the car. It is a matching numbers car with 37,000 miles. Hope one day he changes his mind about not selling it.

Thanks everyone for your help.

You sure about that Chuck? Look like 68-69....they don't have that extra piece.

I'm NOT sure, Uncle George. It may be me, but I'm having trouble orienting myself to the pictures. 70-72 have the extra "wing" piece, which is originally chromed, but then is painted to match and blend in with the grill pieces. SO...I'm not 100% sure. They very well could be 68-69. Maybe it's my computer. Can anybody else help out here? Chuck
