NOS '64 amp gauge
The original amp gauge hardly ever moved off center to show charge or discharge, that's the reason I am replacing it. The new gauge is off center to the left before installation. Should the NOS amp gauge needle be in the center before installation? If so, how do you center it? Or does it center up after installation and the guage has power to it? The needle moves freely in either direction but always comes back to slightly left of center. Thanks for the help.
Yes.
If so, how do you center it?
The needle is pressed on the gauge shaft. You can usually pull it straight off with your fingers. However, you must be careful. It is very fragile. Do not twist it. Do not try to use a grabbing tool like needle-nose pliers or you will probably crush it. Once off, you can re-install it in the center position. You don't have to mash it on very hard.
Or does it center up after installation and the guage has power to it?
No.
Thanks again.
