Use speedo cable lube - it's specially made for speedo and tach cables, and is made with graphite; you can find it at most auto parts stores, and Corvette Central carries it as 'Kable-Ease" lubricant. Don't use chassis grease, especially if you drive in cold weather. Best way to lube it is to disconnect it at the speedo end, remove the core from the casing, wipe it down to clean off the old lube, apply the new graphite-based lube, and re-insert it; you may have to disconnect it at the trans to re-engage the cable in the end of the plastic driven gear. :thumbs:

Thanks -I ask for some "cable-lube" at the local AP store and they said just use grease which I know is WRONG! Thanks for the tip and source! :flag
