Hello Guys!
When my 72 comes home from the painter, I want to paint the "inside" metal of the doors, and restore/repaint the front grill. A;lso like to "freshin up" the paint on the side of the bumperetts. What is the "correct" color and finish for these. ?? Grill looks to be a flat black, and the inside door looks semi-flat black, and the bumperetts look dark grey. What is "correct" for these? Please help!
Thanks to all
Eddie

Howdy. On the inside of the doors on my '71 I used Krylon semi-flat. The top front edge of your doors just below the weatherstrip has a portion that is semi-flat black also. the black portion diappears behind the door panel. On advice of a guy who restores Corvettes I used Steel Wheel Gray to repaint my left and right grills and bumperettes. Masking the grills was a PIA. I sprayed the paint on the grills and bumperettes really dry to give them that rough factory look. They truned out OK. The center grill was not chromed so when it is sprayed with the gray paint, it appears almost black. Hope this helps.
I used Steel Wheel Gray to repaint my left and right grills and bumperettes. .
One more question Bob. Sounds like you have paint system. I don't. Is this color available in spray cans, and is it available through local auto parts/paint stores? Thanks again Bob

Eddie, The paint I used for the grills came out of a spray can. It is Plastic Kote Steel Wheels number is 618 and color is called steel. The top of the can has a gray lid. That's the stuff I used. I think I got it at Pep Boys. I held the can back away from the surface and tried to float the paint on to get the dry look. You may have to experiment a little. Definitely need a still day or enclosed space. Good luck.
BOB: A tip of the glass to ya  You've been most helpfull. Thanks a ton...and...in my best Arnold Swartznegger voice.... "I'll be back" :D :D
