Correctly Dated Glass Codes
I need help identifying Glass Codes and would appreciate your assistance.
This is re: a '66 conv.
Stamped on the Windshield and written in reverse under "safety" is AS1 and under "plate" is NA.
Between Safety & Plate is a square with LOF diagonally written.
Under that is the word "laminated" and under laminated is M3.
Stamped on the LH vent window BUT NOT IN REVERSE: as seen from the outside of the car: is the same "safety" (the square) and "plate" but under safety is AS2 and under plate is VJ. Under that is 'solid tempered" and under that is M51. Of all the glass stampings this vent window is the only stamp NOT IN REVERSE.
All is the same on the other glass with the exception of CJ, AJ and YJ appearing under "plate" on the LH door window and RH vent and door windows. These are respectively.
Any info on deciphering this info and what they mean, i.e. replacement glass vs. original glass and whatever else can be determined is most helpful and appreciated.

Your NCRS Judging Guide explains all this in detail. "NA" on the windshield is January, 1966. "VJ" is December, 1965. "CJ" is November, 1965, "AJ" is September, 1965, and "YJ" is October, 1965. The logo and codes are sometimes reversed, sometimes not on side/vent glass (the same piece of glass was used on both sides, as it was flat, and it made no financial sense to have unique L/R part numbers for glass alone just for inside/outside positioning of the logo and codes); the only thing that determined unique L/R parts as delivered to St. Louis were the assemblies that included the side glass sash channel or the vent glass assembly that included the entire ventilator frame. Glass was typically manufactured 2 to 4 months prior to the car's assembly date, but NCRS allows full credit for glass dates up to a year prior. :thumbs:
