Default Radio Delete Question

My 78 came with the uncommon radio delete option. I have been unable to find one for sale or even hear of one in existance from the 77-82 era. My question is: What difference is there in the radio bezel between the 68-76 and the 77-82 that would not allow a radio delete plate from the early years to fit a bezel from the later? I'm thinking that the plate just might fit, but not having access to one locally, I'm unable to verify that unless I was to buy a repro from Paragon, but they won't return it if it does not fit.

Thanks :seeya

I know the early sharks are metal, and I believe the later bumper cars used a plastic center cluster, and the fit is different because of the different dash pads, try E-Bay or Carlisle, and its not radio delete, they just never ordered that option :D

Tom is correct - the early shark cars had metal guage clusters, the '78s is plastic. I have a '69 radio delete car now, but I'm going from memory on the '78 because I sold mine earlier this year. I believe the shape of the radio portion of the panel is very different. The '69 has a very curved, sculptured shape where the ***** come through the bezel and the radio delete block out plate is shaped to fit in those curves. I believe the '78 had a much more flat surface for the radio, so the plate would not fit. I can take some digital pictures of my '69 and send it to you if that would help.
