My 63 has a 64 style MC on it. Probably a replacement and I already have a source for a true 63. But, before swapping it, has anyone heard of a late 63 getting a 64 style MC?
According to Noland Adams resto guide, there were no 63's from the factory with the 64 MC. My car was produced in the last months run. Though I'd see if anyone has ever seen anything different.
My July built 63 roadster has the "63" style MC...always has. If you're buying a 63 style MC, make sure you get the one embossed 7/8 on the snout. There are many "look-alike" MC's out there, the most common being the 1 inch embossed Corvair model. AND.....if you really get into it, they're date coded too....underneath. :) Chuck
If your '64 MC is genuine Delco Moraine standard brakes and would be correct for a Sept '63 built '64 I'd be interested. The correct numbers are in the NCRS JG. If you need them, let me know and I'll e-mail them to you.
Thanks a bunch Chuck. The ones I am looking at are 63 Vette 7/8" and I was aware of he date code. I didn't want to change it though without confirming that no 63's came with the 64 MC. I should listen to Noland.
Chuck, you don't by chance have more pictures of yours available on-line anywhere do you (or email). I'd love to get a peek, actually lots of peeks, of under your hood.
JSB, I will be taking a closer look at what's in there over the next few weeks. I probably wouldn't be ready to swap out for several months at best (during the winter). I'll let you know when I get to it and if you are still interested we can talk, assuming I find another correct one.
