Just wanted to say thank you to all who help out last month with information on getting my 1960 corvette steering wheel done correctly!
I got it back this past Saturday and it is beautiful. I knew that I sent him a great core, but the finished product is truely a work of art! All the correct fine graining and just a wonderful job done. There are enough disappointments with quality issues in this hobby. Feels good to feel like you got your moneys worth and then some!
How bad was it before you started? Who did it and how much did it cost? You mentioned you sent a "core", did you get your wheel back? I did a search under C1's for "steering wheel restorations" , archived, but didn't get anything back. Thanks
My steering wheel was straight, but suffered from the normal cracking and wear. Overall it was a nice wheel just needing a restoration. I did get my steering wheel back, he restores your wheel. The cost for mine was $450.00.
The person that did my steering wheel is the same person who did steering wheels for Dale Pearman (vroooom). For more information, get ahold of : Ken Hansen

Thanks for the info. $450.00 seems high for my wheel, which only has a couple of cracks. I guess it depends on what is involved in doing a restoration/repair. I'll give him a call to discuss further. Thanks again.
Update: Yep, cost does depend on condition. He will do a condition and cost estimate before doing the work. I'm going to have him do mine when I'm ready.
