Default Rear Spring on Mid year

I started taking apart my rear spring last night and noticed that there were 10 leaves and not the 9 or 7 that are referenced in my restoration manual. Me thinks it might be out of a later model shark, anyone have any ideas?
Also, how can you tell an original '65 radiator?

Thanks

A'67 I had several years ago that had a 10 leaf too. I thought maybe it was a GM replacement or possibly an aftermarket replacement, never did find out for sure. As far as being a later model, weren't the later ones slightly wider like 2.5" rather than 2.25"? You might check that out.

An original SB radiator looks just like a 63-67 SB radiator. The difference is the date stamp. Original radiators are dated....stamped on the top. You'll see something like 65A where 65 is the year, and A is January, B is February, etc. Chuck

The original spring had 9 leaves - the three top ones were flat, and the bottom six were arched; the main leaf (bottom) was 46.3" between the centerlines of the link bolt holes (along the spring surface), the bottom three leaves were .214" thick, and the top six were .194" thick. All were 2-1/4" wide, and there were no bands used anywhere on the spring. Most reproduction springs have ten leaves, and some have bands on them. The later Shark 9-leaf springs are similar, except they're 2-1/2" wide and use smaller-diameter bolts at the center attachment to the diff carrier.
